'06-'07 brake lines on an '02?
'06-'07 brake lines on an '02?
Hello All,
Once again I am faced with replacing the 2 - one piece brake lines that extend from the 'manifold' on the rear axle out to the callipers.
My local dealership wants over $1,000 Canadian for the set.
I read somewhere that the hoses from an '06 or '07 can be adapted to fit my '02 and am looking for some kind of confirmation before I order them.
As long as the banjo/block at the caliper fits and the thread is the same at the manifold (hose from the driver's side frame rail) I will find a way to support them.
The '06 hoses are less than $30 each from the dealership.
Can anyone visually compare the ends of the hoses or confirm that the newer hoses will fit!?!
Any other 'off-the-shelf' solutions to this problem?
Thanks,
Dave

I'm a little confused, your dealer wants $1000 for the 2 rubber brake lines for an 02 but $30 for the same lines for an 06-07. Doesn't make any sense.
Go down your local NAPA and buy a set of rubber brake lines to fit your truck and ignore the dealer. Simple as that.

couple of options- make your own. Just got in Nick-alloy lines in my state which flare great and bend by hand, plus they do not rust. Even better then the green coated stuff....
Other option is have a set made in SS- I got a set from Classic Tube in New York for around $250 - had all the lines for 1996/1997 ion SS and the lines that were incorrect (base set was a 1997) I sent them my originals and they made them for me. Just had them do tranny coolant lines for me- sent in original lines and they duplicated them in SS....
I'll never need to replace either of them again...

Auto parts stores up here seem to be much less accomodating than their friends south of the border.
The rear lines c/w hoses for the rear of my truck are "Dealer-Only" items here. Parts stores only list the three flex hoses (front x2 and rear frame to axle).
I've called around and a few specialty (high performance) shops said they could order pieces for me to make my own but I really didn't want to wait the week they wanted to have things shipped in from the US.
I managed to get the flare nuts free and re-installed the orignal hoses but it took a little torching and now the nylon coating is toast.
I'll try to order in some replacements and change them later.
Just for kicks price out the hoses for the rear of an '02 in your state... I think the price is equally ridiculous down there!
