'02 for a 3rd gen

ok, so im in this delima, as you can see from my pics i have a 5" lift and 315's on 16x10 rims. so theres this cop around here that just wont leave me alone. he keeps giving me tickets cause my tires stick out to far, and i need mudflaps, and on and on. i have put on mudflaps, and fender flares, and everything he has asked me too, but it still aint good enough. so its lookin like no matter what i do, it aint gunna be good enough for him. SO i have been thinkin bout selling or trading my '02 in for a 3rd gen so i can start over and not go so drastic on everything. (lift, wheels, and such) do you guys think id be crazy to do so? any opinions would be appreciated, thanks

One word.

Don't do it!

Ok, maybe 3 words.

But, that's just my opinion.

Find out the exact laws he keeps hassling you about and keep a copy of them in your truck, then have him point out where you are in violation.

Maybe all of us in Utah with lifted trucks oughta come down there for a meet and greet, then drive past this law enforcement officer over and over again.

Clean the truck up real good and go see his boss. Show him the truck and let him see the pride you take in it. Gather up all the tickets or other documents you have to show his boss that he has been leaning on you pretty hard and you have tried to comply. It won't hurt going to the top.

You might even line up a lawyer just in case you have grounds for harrasment.

Good luck...........Pete

rjordan,

He definately has your number.

Back in the late 70's and early 80's, when I was in Law enforcement, figured I could follow anyone and in about 2 minutes they had violated some law enough to warrant pulling them over---that is----if I was looking for an excuse----I could find one.

I don't think that your truck has anything to do with this situation, it has to be something else, otherwise I can't imagine why he would harass you in this manner.......retract that.....I knew guys like that.

Regardless, I think Pete and Phox have given you some good advise. Document EVERTHING, and if it continues, go to his superiors or get a lawyer involved.

PS It helps if you don't race past the donut shop!

Your truck looks enough like mine that I should come down there and see if he pulls me over, thinking I'm you

Or, let you drive mine past him and see if he still pulls you over.

Charge him with harrassment!

Had this happen with a RCMP member back in BC. Anything and everything he could imagine, I got hassled or written up for. Last time he pulled me over, I told him to meet at the detachment, I'm laying charges. Went to the detachment, went head to head with the CO about all the "problems and tickets" Every one of them was written off, driver's abstract was cleaned and the cop wouldn't come within a hundred miles of me after that.

Speak up and let him have it!!!
