Zero fuel pressure on WOT
Zero fuel pressure on WOT
So driving back from vacation pulling a hill i hear my edge monitor alarm start chirping at me and low and behold 0 fuel pressure. On idle it fluctuates 8-10psi but I thought the truck wouldn't run with 0 fuel pressure? I have the FASS fuel pump and a NEW VP44 from the last time it was starved and died, both are about a year old. What could cause this to happen yet again?
Does the pump have power?
When was the fuel filter changed last?
Did you recently refuel? ....... could be a load of dirty fuel.
The VP44 has a built in pump, but it can't pull enough fuel all the way from the rear mounted tank for both supply and cooling, that's why the "Transfer Pump".
Pumps like to 'push' not 'pull'.
It might run without the extra fuel for awhile, but it's not good for it.

what could happen?
dirty fuel..plugged the filter or filters
bad electrical connection..no power to the lift pump
bad ECM..does drive the lift pump.
next questions how to determine what or which?
can you jump the power to lift pump..bypass the ECM..got fuel pressure?
what about changing the filters..got pressure?
