It was driving just fine, parked it, two hours later went to go home and won't start. The tank is full, but it just cranks with no fire. I do get a 1693 but haven't found the other code yet. It has 198,000 miles and that's on the original factory vp as well. I know the vp has gotten weak but never acted up like this but I guess it's time for one. After I cleared the code with key I would try starting it and one cylinder would fire then nothing with the check engine light coming back on. Is there any other problems that could cause this besides a vp problem? I will try to get the codes to confirm but I am hoping there is an other (cheaper) problem. Any help or advice will help, thanks

When my VP let go, it didn't show any codes and wouldn't start without a shot of ether.

 

Scan it. If no codes search on CKP. You really need more info before throwing a VP.
