Will Redline MTL void 6-spd warrenty?
I had an interesting experience when my 6 spd in the 01 flew apart.
It was a very cold [ -40C ] day. I was on the highway and pulled out to pass a semi. A loud clunk followed by no 6th gear and lots of chattering in the trans.
I limped it to the dealer which was closed on Sunday. I was supposed to be on a flight out to the Dominican Republic Monday a.m.
Anyway, talked to the owner of the Dodge store, left the truck and hopped a bus to the city.
When I returned from the trip the dealer told me they repaired 6th 3rd and 4th with the latest change up for gears.
Then we lost 2nd and 5th. All they did was take it for a run on the highway.
Now DC gave the green light for a new trans.
The interesting thing is DC demanded a sample of what was in my trans. They told the dealer if its anything but whats supposed to be in there...no warranty.
I had my redline on the shelf at home for the next service. So it had the stock lube in it.
The dealer agreed that Redline is better but DC was taking a hardline on things.
What kept me from making any more noise about this was the fact that the dealer was not the least bit concerned about the TST box and pierced wire, B-1 Kwik spool turbo, gauges etc.
So I left it alone.
Just sharing what happened.

If transmissions with Redline don't fail, why doesn't Redline come out and tell us that they will cover the cost if DC denies a warranty claim because we are using Redline MTL?
If Redline would do this they would sure sell a lot more MTL to guys like me with new trucks! It would also put an end to these long email strings that never seem to resolve anything!

...Anyway, glad its changed. Not alot of stuff in the bottom of transmission but some thick grey goop and a little metal on the magent.

I have heard that in the 6-speed it is better to use a mix of mtl and another redline oil (mt-90) that it works better in the six speeds. Im not sure why, but there are a couple of people on here with the mix, maybe they will chime in.

I used the mix to obtain the recommended viscosity. Mine shifts like a dream now. Synchros seem to drop in quicker.
