Question Will this motor work?

I have recently had problems with a knocking noise. I did my research to find I have a 53 block as well as bottom end knock. My question is this I found a complete motor from a 2001 ram which is a 55 block casting. Will this new block transfer to my 1999 ram? The dismantler yard says there is a plate blocking where the timing sensor sits on the 1999 (crank or timeing sensor) Any Ideas if it will work?

Talking Make Sure

Just make sure it has a CRANK Sensor,, Some where in late 2001 they did away with the crank Sensor and ran everything off the cam sensor..
I have done the same thing you are trying to do, If it does have a Crank sensor Your OK, You just need to put the 99's Map sensor in the 01 and must use the 99's ECM. The voltage's were changed in 01.
I lucked out and bought 2001 a engine with 8525 miles on it for $2100.00 out of a bus that burned up. And installed it in my 1998.5
It Worked great it now has 22000 miles on it.

There is plenty of info on this site from people who have done this already, That's How I learned.

Good luck
Hope that helps.

The motor does not have the three wires at the sensor from the crank however niether did the three other blocks he had. He found one with the sensor out of a 98 (24v HO)and that will probably be the one I get. It does have 133,000 miles on it but its not a 53 block. I still dont know if Cmmins will helpif I want to rebuild with a new core... I am hopeing anyway..

The motor does not have the three wires at the sensor from the crank??

Does it have the crank sensor There?? Or a plug? If the sensor is there your all set ,,, I dont know what wires you are talking about,,,, The wires you will use are on your trucks harness... ALSO Never heard of a 1998 24 Valve HO... They did not make the HO till after 98...
Just a silly question,,, You do know where the crank sensor is? (not being smarta$$) just want to know if you know what your looking for.

Also,,, 133000 miles in just broke in on these Engines

I'm sure someone can chime in on the "HO" Thing and correct me if i'm wrong.
