Will the hx35 produce lower egts?

Not sure what I have on my truck now. I do know that it is the stock one for an auto. I was told if I could get the hx35 my egts would drop. If so how much and is it worth it. I do not see a need for a bigger turbo because my truck is my tow vehicle. If I run my truck on the number 2 setting (edge juice) the egt's will hit 1350 unless I take my foot out of it. That is only up steep hills pulling 13,000LBS.

Thanks for the help.

You probably have a HY35 with the 9cm turbine which gives fast spool up but not much volume. It is the volume of air that cools your egts. The stock hx 35 has a slightly larger turbine housing at 12 cm and you can add a bigger housing yet to help cool things even more. How much boost are you running now? Do you have a boost elbow installed? You could even install a j-hook on your existing turbo to prevent the wastegate from opening to get more air into the engine.

I boost around 17-20 psi. I do not have an elbow.

Boost elbow will not work on an HY due to the fact that it is a hardline. You will need to use a turnbuckle/j-hook instead. I would go that route first as it will only cost a couple bucks from home depot or local hardware store. If you do a search you should be able to find some good instructions and pictures of the process. It will allow your turbo to send more boost to the engine instead of opening the wastegate at approx 20psi which will help lower your egts. It is easy to do once you know what to do. It may or may not be enough though.
The hx should lower egts as well but you are going to lose some spoolup speed which probably wont be a problem for you but it is going to show the most when towing.
