Why Does VP-44 Fail So Much?
I do not know if anyone here has looked at my post in the "Help" forum regarding lift pumps, but upon replacing mine, I found 2 of the 3 studs holding the top plate of the vane assembly were not torqued tighter than 5-6 ft lbs. Vibration from the engine may have loosened them over time, since my lift pump failure rate is running around 60K miles each. I suspect that the lift pump may be sucking a small amount of air from the vane cover plate gasket which would correlate into lower fuel pressure readings...
Guess that's the end of my $.02 worth.
