Where is my head casting number?

Looking to get a new head since mine might be cracked. Mechanic said he can stitch the head (a patented process, I guess) if there is a crack. Keeping options open and a shop nearby has a new casting for $1500 loaded and reconditioned ones for $1000-$1200. He wants to know my head casting number and says it is on the intake side of the head. Don't see no number there....

Theres a part number on the underside of the intake manifold. Its not a casting number like the 53,54,55.... on the blocks, just a Cummins P/N.

Sweet. On the underside of the intake manifold. That should be easy.... Wonder if that's what he wants....

Looked at it today, and its not a P/N on there, its does look like a casting number. Must be the 12v that has the P/N under there.

I see a casted number under the APPS/Intake horn but it's going to take some finagling to get the full number.... Anyone know how many digits there are?

Probably 15 or 18, long series. Remove the APPS, and get a mirror and a flashlight.

I don't understand why you need a casting #. Take the ESN to cummins and get a complete remaned head for $1k.

Cummins has remanned heads? I asked and they quoted me $3156.51 for a loaded head. I guess I'll call them tomorrow. Clearwater Cylinder Heads needs the casting number to make sure they get the head right.... Theirs are $1000 and come with a 2 year unlimited mileage warranty. Now if I could only find someone that can O-ring the head around here....
