Does anyone have a good source for fuel filters for a 1999. The local parts stores are getting 32.00 for FRAM or NAPA. I tried shopdiesel.com only to get ripped off. They shipped the wrong product and expected me to pay all shipping, to, return, and to again; not to mention the handling fees for all shipments. They fail to make good on their own mistake. Any suggestions for a good, reliable source would be appreciated.

I get most of my filters from Geno's as well. I would be happy to buy them from the site, but last I checked they don't carry them. I have always been happy with the service from Geno's.

I have a good shop that buys them for me (FASS system) from NAPA and sells them to me at cost. ($13.56)

 

The local Oreilly's here sells wix.

 

I get all of my filters (Napa Gold/Wix) from fleetfilter.com. My typical order consists of 4 oil filters (7620XE), 3 fuel filters (3585XE), and 2 air filters (2846) for $99+shipping.

 

I can't find anything local......so I get my fuel filters from Geno's too.

For oil filters I got lucky after watching fleabay for a month. I picked up a case (12) of fleetguard stratpore's for $50 plus $18 for shipping.

 

Thanks for the help, this forum is a great source for information. I like the truck and intend to buy enough filters to last a couple of years, save on the shipping that way. I have learned NOT to shop @ shopdiesel.com,bigexhaust.com,washthecar.com, rotorsandbrakes.com.

This is going to stir the pot but. I hear alot of people changine their fuel filters? When one does change the fuel filter does anyone really look at it? I change mine every few years or so. But I only get my fuel from the card lock. It has always been clean and dry so far. The last one only had a slight bit of black and some sand. I figure that it is cheaper to get my fuel from the card locks? So I don't have the change the filter often? If it is clean why change it ?????

 

With a VP44 under the hood, infrequent fuel filter changes sounds like playing Russian roulette. One of these times it just might go BANG!

Seriously though, at a cost of ~$15, its cheap insurance your getting clean fuel to the pump.

 

Actually the more dirty that the filter becomes the more it filters.... until it won't let the fuel pass and the pressure drops. A pressure gage will tell you when to change it.

 

Baldwin makes a 5 micron drop in Fuel F. For my 06. 11 Bucks. Any big truck place should have it --- if not they can get it. Don't know if 99 model has same drop in cannister.
