Fram is owned by Honeywell, Fleetguard by Cummins.

After past experiences on my '90 Dodge w/ a 318 due to a Fram, I personally still wouldn't use them on my lawn mower.

But that's just me.

Ed, Fram filters roll out of this Fleetguard plant everyday! Believe me. Fleetguard makes John Deere, Cat, Fram...... There are only 2 or 3 manufactures of filters. They just put different names on them.

Hmmmmm, learn sumthin' new every day.

Kinda curious why Dodge/Cummins left Fram off of its "Approved Oil Filter" list then.

ED, I think Barry is playing an early April Fools joke.....

I doubt very much that the the Fram's are a Stratapore.....ANY oil filter related filter trouble Ive ever heard of (ie filter media breaking down and clogging piston coolers, split filter housing etc.) has beed linked to a Fram filter. Ive actually passed over a truck that had a Fram on it.

Kinda throws a wrench into the mix dont it??

That's why I was questioning his statement.

It just didn't sound right to me.

Part of the reason these forums are here is to pass on correct info.
The "Jokes" belong in the "Other" forum.

Even if Fleetguard makes Fram I suspect that they are not made to Fleetguards specs....

Barry, do you have any info on that??

Ya know, I think we may have had this discussion in the past

From what I've gathered here and other sites,
Fram used to be a problem oil filter when mated with the Cummins.

Something inside couldn't handle the instant or extreme oil pressure,
came apart and clogged oil passages and those little plastic jets,
resulting in engine failure.

Fram has since fixed that problem.

Cummins must still be leary enough to leave them off the "approved" list.

Just because it's made at the same factory doesn't mean everything made there is up to the same standard.

So does this mean the Fleetguard's "rejects" are labeled as Fram.

Just stririn' the pot.

Guys all I can say is Cummins sends insurance and benefit information to my house for my wife. She gets her pay check from Fleetguard. And they make Fram oilfilters at the plant she works at. So what do you make of that??? I know the Fram doesn't have the Stratapore in it. I'm telling you what I know. Believe me or not Fram filters roll out Cummins insures me and Fleetguard sends checks to my house. That is a fact.

I just bought a purolator fuel filter, because I needed one and didnt want to wait for a fleetguard to be shipped. Low and behold when I looked at it in the store before I took it to the counter, stamped right on the filter it said stratapore.
