Have recently come across some info that Fram filters have been failing and i've been running them for a while now. in that same article it says that mopar,AC delco, motor craft, cummins and fleetguard are all covered under engine manufactures warranty. just wondering what everyone is running

The issue with Fram has been addressed. Fram updated their filter after learning of the "potential" problem. They worked with Cummins to resolve the issue. There is a thread which addresses the Fram issue and their efforts to resolve it:

https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...threadid=36856

Read through the entire post ... good reading! I believe Infidel posted the reply at the bottom of page 2 regarding a letter from Fram published in the August 2002, Cummins Bulletin® Technical Information.

All of those "approved" filters are affiliated with Cummins in some way.

I use Wix filters, as do other Cummins owners. I think the choice is up to you. There are some here who are "die hard" Fleetguard users; however, I find it hard to believe that DC would void your warranty for using an aftermarket filter. Not to mention, the filter manufacturer would be holding the bag if the filter unit caused an engine failure ... I'm sure they all take that into consideration.

I'm using the fleetguard as welll

Oil - LF3959
Fuel - FS19579

Can't find my air filter number at the moment....

So many people can't be wrong... If there Cummins is still rolling into the 400-500K mark!

I see no reason not to use a 3894......the best filter you can buy without going to a bypass system.

Another Fleetguard lemming here. Why create potential problems when the Fleetguards are so readily available and relatively inexpensive?

After reading several oil filter failure vs. warranty horror stories it seems Fleetguard and Mopar are the ones people have the hardest time getting to stand behind their product. Just the same as DC fights everyone on warranty issues.
I don't use Fram because they are cheap but know quite a few folks though the years who have no hassle engine replacements when a Fram failed.
I also use Wix.

I'm using the Cummins brand filters. Much cheaper than FRAM for me- and Cummins Valvoline Premium Blue oil.

Maybe I should think this over due to the recent events?
