Whats the cheapest and easiest way to make a 24 valve quiet?
Whats the cheapest and easiest way to make a 24 valve quiet?
I bought the truck with some sort of frankenstein exhaust already on it. It looks like the factory down pipe and than some sort of 4" exhaust with a glass pack is attached where the cab and bed meet. It is REALLY LOUD, and it drones on the highway bad. I just got done driving it across country towing 10k, NEVER AGAIN!
I just want to know what the best system or muffler is to install to shush her down to at least factory levels. Anyone have a factory system ly-ing around they don't want??
Looks like this might work for the drone: https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...hlight=exhaust
Any other ideas are greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Brad

I've heard of the hushpower, I've also heard they are expensive. I'm trying to keep the cost down as much as possible. But I will def look into one just to be sure the cost hasn't been exagerated
I found the hushback muffler for about $200... I'm sure its a great muffler, but I can almost get an entire exhaust for that much. The tractor muffler sounds like a good idea, I'll have to ask around back home and see if anyone has a one for cheap.
Thanks again everyone for the help!

Not tried it but sounds like a winner!

Don't put the stocker exhaust on it, especially if you tow. Mine got down to under two inches in diameter at the bend over the rear axle. Just put a quality muffler on it as suggested so you don't restrict flow.

I've been looking at the resonator/muffler, that may very well be the best solution for my problem.
I didn't realize the stocker was that restrictive. At the very least with the system I have now I've never seen EGT's higher than 1200 for more than a few seconds pulling 10k across the Mojave desert, in the dead of summer...

Don't get me wrong I have enjoyed the loudness at times... but the cross country trip beat me to a pulp. 3k+ mils of drone was more than enough for me to seek a silencing option.
