Re:Were is the best place to buy a fuel filter?

Hi Mike. There are lots of past threads on fuel filters. A search will yield lots of info. The only filter that Cummins recommends is their Fleetguard brand Stratapore filter. However, we put a NAPA Wix filter on my son's truck yesterday, and it was clearly marked "Stratapore" on the body of the filter. I get my filters online from Geno's Garage. The worst place to purchase them is from the dealer.

I have, up to this point, used Wix for every filter on the truck. However, the prices that Geno's has is cheaper even with shipping than I pay at the local O'Reilley so i may be switching to them.

I buy Fleetguard at Intermountain Cummins in Las Vegas.

The correct answer to your question is anywhere but the dealer.

I won't knock the aforementioned brands, but...

Baldwin Filters used here. All the way around.

I'm not alone. I buy them locally, but TPilaske buys on line. Where was that site?

BTW, Tony prices were within a few cents. Thanks.

I've been using Baldwin filters since the 70's when I owned a truck lube & service business. They along with Wix (sold by NAPA), and Fleetguard (cummins produst) are the best available in my estimation.
I get mine at a local independant parts house. ;D

Re:Were is the best place to buy a fuel filter?

I wish I had noted the name, but the fuel filter we put in my son's truck had the "Stratapore" logo on the body, was in a box marked with a "Wix" sticky label, and the box was printed with yet another brand that I can't remember. Point being that it's quite possible that several different brands of filters may come out of the same manufacturing house. I doubt that Fleetguard actually makes their own filters.

I got mine from Autozone and it was a Deutch (sp?) brand, it was Stratapore material. $7.99 including tax.

It was well worth the call to Geno's to get it all in one place.

Just my 2 cents! ;D ;D
I have always used Fleetguard!!!
I will tell you that Fleetguard's LF-3894 oil filter is the exact same as the Case Int'l #J934430 Ultra. I buy the Case at a local tractor dealer for $6.95 each.
