Well I think she's dead

On the way to class this morning, I killed the engine at a rolling stop to restart my buddys comp, which has been acting up. I tried restarting the truck and guess what, not starty....Took 5 or 6 cranks to get her going and when she did, tons of white smoke and some ticked off people behind me at the intersection I was blocking. When she did restart, there was the MIL light on. Got to campus and checked for codes...

0252, 0253, 1693...

I was fearing the dreaded 0216, but after doing some research, these (minus the 1693) are just as bad. This sucks. Please tell me that my trucks alright, and everything else is gonna be fine!!!

Ya right, in a perfect world. Funny thing is that my fuel pressure hasn't dropped below 14 psi for over 8 or 9 months now. Maybe me idling at 25 psi for that same amount of time was the culprit...who knows.

Any thoughts or ideas guys? Looks like this is gonna be a crappy day.

I guess I'm gonna call Piers and ask about their hot rod vp44...

Without the Injection Pump Timing Failure,(unless the 1693 will show a 0216 later)? I would be motivated to wait on the VP replacement for a minute.

Think positive, expect realistic though.
Good Luck.

Try unhooking the Comp yet?
Might just be the box.

Whats going on here? Mine is currently on the no start list as well. It runs fine when it does. I think I'm getting air in the lines.

I replaced the fuel fliter Saturday, took a while to get the truck to start back up, as usual. Ran fine since then until this morning. I figured all the air in the lines would have bled itself out by now. Like I said, I was approaching a stop light, coasting at 5 mph, decided to kill the truck to reset the "acting up" comp, which I have done 3 or 4 times before, and then, what do ya know, trucky not starty.

I haven't had a chance to unhook the comp yet, but I will later on this afternoon.

The truck drives fine, and start up fine. It was just this morning that was giving me heck. I turned off the comp and drove it to campus. I'm just worried that the IP is gonna fail at the worst possible time, and most likely, it will w/ my luck.

What would cause the MIL light to come on? I know sometimes a check engine light comes on for a dead IP, and lots of time, it doesn't. So whats the deal w/ this light?

Thanks, Hunter

You say the comp has been "acting up", there's your problem.

Bad comps have been known to throw erroneous codes.

I say send it to Edge and have them look at it.

Well the MIL went off, but the codes are still present. I'm in the process of an APPS reset, and hopefully the codes won't come back. I'm gonna remove the comp and see what that does. I'll keep yall posted.

Well did the apps reset and the codes are still present, with the comp removed. On top of that, I decided to "fix" my leaking fuel/water seperator stopcock, and that turned out, again, to make the problem worse. Looks like I'm headed to Dodge tomm to get a new canister.

As for the codes, I'm gonna swing by Autozone and have the codes cleared, and hopefully, they won't come back. That is if the truck makes it that far (fearing dead IP even though we got it to start after getting fuel into the lines via the canister "fix").

Should just be able to disconnect the batteries for a while if you just want to clear the codes. Might have to turn the ignition on while the batteries are disconnected just to be sure.

The batteries were disconnected with the key turned on for over 5 hours.

tool, a FASS would be nice but it's a little to expensive. And why mess around with the FASS when the holley black is putting out 25psi.

BLUE, I have never noticed your "KILLS", good stuff. I have a FASS and I know nothing of the "Holley Black". What is it?

EVERYONE THAT I KNOW WHO HAS BOUGHT THE EDGE PRODUCTS HAVE HAD PROBLEMS

Mine did that twice and it turned out to be massive amounts of water in the fuel. I thought I blew it up it smoked so much. And the WIF light never came on either.

Thanks. Just a little something I whipped up one day.

The holley black is a holley electric fuel pump. It's designed for gassers but some of us use them for diesel.

Well went to Autozone and had the codes cleared and thank God they are not back. I guess it was the comp (thanks Bryan for your comp scaring the crap outta me). Looks like its time to tackle the leaking fuel canister again.

Thanks guys,

Hunter
