want to rebuild an nv4500
I am going to pull out my 5 speed trans and get it rebuilt but i want to rebuild it myself. not sure though if i can. do i need special bearing pullers and other special tools or what. and also where can i find a manual for this transmission?

You can download a manual for $ 20 from quad 4x4 website. I just finished the 5 speed in my 96 and am redoing one from a 2wd GM 1 ton. They are not hard to rebuild. You will need a bearing puller. The gear puller set from HF works fine. Also a press, for the bearings and the input race. HF also has a small one for around a $ 100. A good pair of lock ring pliers is a must as well, that third gear lock ring is about an 1/8" thick. Dan also has the parts you will need as well. Good luck, and have fun.

how do i get to pdf form? to get the serivce manual, also is the service manual for an 01 the same for a 2000. Is an NV4500 the same not matter what year?
