VP44 questions

How many miles can I expect the VP44 to last with the lift pump out?
A while back (April 29,05) I took the truck to the local dealer and explained that the lift pump was going out (low fuel PSI). The dealer ran test on it and charged me $76.00 and told me that everything is within specs and DC would not pay for new lift pump. Now I have 3-4 PSI max and 0 at times and the truck is black smoking most of the time .
I know that something is going to give but what can a guy do I tried to be the nice guy and save DC some money and it cost me. I know that the VP44 is now damaged goods and I only have 7000 on the warranty.
Any suggestions?

I wouldn't think your gonna last long at all without the lift pump it starves the vp44 and the pump runs dry i dont think it will no way last 7000 miles if you have 0 psi very often

Enough Mr. Nice Guy.
If your spewing smoke isn't that costing you in fuel?
I've heard mixed reviews on the dealers "flow test" (or whatever it is).
Good Luck.

Yes it is costing me in fuel but not $1200.00 I need this thing to go completely out so that it will be replaced under warranty.
I will be working the truck this weekend hauling hay. Maybe that will make something happen.

Bigfoot if you can find a way to get it to go out. And get it replaced it will be a remanufactured pump. Which i think they fixed like 3 things on the reman pump. But i would think that if you are running that low of pressure the dealer would pick it up have you tried taking it to a different dealer. I think some of them are just ingnorant and some aint. I think a normal 24 valve should run like 12 P.S.I. Although when mine went out "due to a comp box" they checked my lift pump and said it was good to so i dunno.
