Anything over 5 psi @ WOT is considered "acceptable".

I prefer to keep it above 10 psi @ WOT on mine.
I currently have 20 psi @ Idle, and 17 @ WOT with no "Box" and a Blue Chip "X" VP-44 injection pump.

Im the the same boat as Shovelhead, I prefer nothing shorter than 8-10 PSI.
I range from 21 at idle down to 13-14 at WOT with injectors and box.

ditto on shovelhead..
I run 18 at idle, 15 at wot..
watchout for drops with under a 1/4 tank of fuel..yes DROPS!! think 5-10 inches of vacuum here..yes my fuel gauge is a vacuum/boost mechanical gauge.

don't know about fass but A,D just takes a firmer check ball spring to increase pressure. Or you can stretch existing one out a bit. Nate

If you're running a stock Carter-style pump 15psi @ idle is all you're going to get.

Most of us are running aftermarket pumps to get the higher pressures.
I'm running a Glacier/Walbro pump with larger supply lines from the transfer pump to the VP-44.

I've been running a FASS 150/150 for about 1-1/2 years. 15 psi at idle and have never gone under 13 psi at WOT or when pulling a 29 foot toy hauler at interstate speeds. That is, until the filters start to load up. It will still be 15 psi at idle but will drop to 10/11 psi under load. I'm using a 1/2" draw straw and a 3/8" line to the VP.

You shouldn't need a hole drilled. I used the existing hole. The only thing I had to do was remove the tank, unscrew the top, cut the bottom off of the plastic cylinder( about a quarter way up), take the grommet out of the "lid" and insert the draw straw with the grommet after CAREFULLY measuring the length needed.
It's not a major operation with one person and even easier with two.
