VP44 Question

Tonight i'm putting on a new 44. I can't seem to get the bolts off the block side that hold the 44 in place. I did not remove the fuel lines, do I need to do that? Any help or tricks would greatly be appreciated.

yes! you have to remove the fuel lines!!! the 6 on the back and the supply and return lines on the side. have you taken off the nut off the front of the pump? make sure the keyway is facing up, then you'll have to pull the gear off. The two bolts that hold the bracket to the side of the motor are cake to get to. very easy swap, ill pm you detailed instructions

Yep, use some extensions and a universal joint.

Putting the nuts back on is easier. I hold the nut up squarely against the stud with a small telescopic magnet, then "flick" the nut around in a clockwise direction with a long skinny flatblade screwdriver. It will be done up in seconds.

its way easier getting the pump in and out with the fuel lines removed. I did mine last Saturday, and didn't remove them. Just pulled the clamps and Isolators....man that was the wrong way to do it. pull the lines in 2 bunches of 3. thats what I should of done.

the back 2 bolts. yup socket swivel extension, I backfed the extension in from the top with out the ratchet on seated the socket then put the ratchet on. took me about 6.5 seconds to get those back 2 bolts, but my buddy tried first, it was painful to watch. just have the right touch and its easy.

and we did this pump swap on the street in Denver, 1700kms from home after driving for a day and a half. was all in all about 4 hours.
