VP44 Pump Failure??

I know this has been brought up many times but I've searched the board and haven't found the answer. I'll be quick about it here.

I know that my lift pump failed about 5 months ago. At the time I was told by a friend that I shouldn't worry about it until the engine has a hard time starting, so I didn't replace it. I now read on the board that my pump might be / is now compromised.

I very seldom tow with the vehicle (typically under 2000lbs total trailer weight) but noticed a power drop last time I pulled. From what I read my pump is toast but everything seems to be running fine. No rough idle, no lack of power (when unloaded), etc. I read that the VP44 has an internal lift pump that can supply the main pump at light loads. Could this have saved it or am I sitting on a time bomb?

How can I check my VP44 to understand if it is working properly? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

Bryan

Go to your local dodge dealer. They have some sort of device that can check if the pump is working right or not.
