VP44 install Q?

Im installing a reman vp44.

How do you access the nut on the front of the pump?

Do I need to removed the flat looking cover on the front of the motor?

Any other advice would be a huge help.

Ive never done this before.

Thanx in Advance.

You twist the breather to take it off!
So what vp did you decide on? I hope you got a name brand.

yup, just twist the breather off. Then make sure the key way is pointed upwards, then put a gear puller on it and break the gear loose. then slide the pump out

vp

I turned the motor over and lined it up with tdc.

turned the fan a little put a puller on it and moved the fuel lines and she came out real nice.

the key fell off at the last second and almost went down.

I really appreciate the help from you guys,

Ive been working on it off and on for about 5 hours, I get distracted very easily.

So heres the final skinny on everything

New remanned vp44 $1944.16
New APPS $408.43
New camshaft sensor $76.50
New fuel filter like $10.00
Another new carter lift pump which makes 4lbs less than the old one $202.76

Dodge sux

truck still has p1693 code.

dead pedal gone but truck accelerates so slow it might as well still have dead pedal.

and now only makes max of 22lbs of boost.

WHAT A PIECE OF JUNK

I took everyone advice and really stepped out on a ledge with this vp44 and the truck now drives slower than X mas.

Dodge

I wish I could be put into a cage with The CEO of Dodge.

1st mistake is a Black Beauty!!?! after posting on here sevaral times. paid waaay too much for it could've had a HRVP. Never put a stock lift pump back on code 1693 you need to have it scanned and fix the real problem. maybe it had a HRVP and you put a stock on. 22 lbs. is great for a stock truck. maybe it had a programmer down loaded in it?

Could I have gotten unlimited mileage warranty on hrvp?

I have a great warranty and the shop is here in the area no shipping.

I paid 1395 plus tax out the door was 1500 bux no waiting on shipping.

Show me a HRVP for 1500 with no shipping.

Show me a VP with a unlimited mileage warranty.

I consulted you guys here before buying what to hear you say now that I paid way to much.

The hrvp was 1800 plus shipping plus 500 for the core thats 2300 bux plus shipping.

I spent 1900 bux.

You think I got ripped off?

Do you?

Find out what the 1693 is and go from there.

What brand pump did you get?
