VP44 install
VP44 install
Does anyone happen to have a detailed set of instructions for replacing a VP44? It seems that mine took a dump on me yesterday. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Ya, but if memory serves me, you have to watch out for a "Woodruff" key that will fall into the front cover as you remove the pump. The keyway must be facing up when you pull the pump off. The keyway is either partially visible, or the shaft is marked ....something like that.
I would sugest buy the sevice manual..........there are a couple of tricks-like do not drop the key dwn in the oil pan (bummer) and do the KDP while there just cause you are.
Also guages and a lift pump if your not sure what your vp44 died from.
And one last thing use the newer updated vp44 braket on the back of the pump, the old style ( pc of flat mettal all break and contribute to pump failure). The new is a real big cast thing and will stay put.
There is no timing to do except line up the marks.
