VP-44 R & R Instructions?

It look like I'm going to have to replace my VP-44 very shortly. I got one on the way from Piers. I had the dealer replace it about 40,000 miles ago and it's going out again.

I'm going to replace it myself this time and I need the R & R instructions, the service manual doesn't have them. Does anyone have a printed set of instructions or know a website I can find them at?

Thanks for you help. :'( :'( :'(

Tcourse (Terry Course) just did his @ Big K's a few weeks ago... You might send him a PM. Wasn't bad at all from what I understand.

BTW, did you order the VP44 that was updated to -027 specs and runs $1750? What makes you think you need a new one? (ie: what are your symptoms?) How many total miles are on your truck? 40,000 mi on your second one is not too good... [undecided] I am knocking on SERIOUS wood with 97,000 ROUGH miles on my original VP44. :'( :'(

Re:VP-44 R & R Instructions?

Well after a few minor problems on our 17 day vacation in British Columbia, Piers said to change the pump. I had put off changing it because I wasn't sure that it was the problem.

Piers told me last Wednesday that he thought he knew what the problem was. Bosch has had some problems with the diaphragms in the VP44. He said that Bosch has updated them 4 or 5 times! Well I hope I got the latest upgrade and that Bosch finally has it right!

This VP44 was remanufactured in Czecho-Slovakia to the 027 spec's.

It took about 3 1/2 hours by myself. Now that I've done it, if I have to do it again, it will be a lot faster.

Truck seem to run good.

Does anyone know if there is a break-in period on the remanufactured VP44?

I thought I would leave the Comp off for a few hundred miles.

Wish me luck! Third VP-44 in 155,000 miles. ???

Big Bob,

From looking at your sig, I think you need to upgrade your fuel delivery to the VP44.

Comp, and stage 3 injectors needs more fuel than the OEM lift pump can supply. If anything, move the LP to the frame rail by the tank. Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? What is your fuel pressure to the VP at idle? I am betting that you are falling under 4psi at WOT. You may be cooking your VP44 because it is trying to suck more fuel than the LP can provide.

Something is causing your VP's to fold, I would find that first before you bake another one.

Sticks
