VP-44 Change out update
VP-44 Change out update
Dealer called yesterday "come pick up your truck, we can't duplicate the problem" Great I am leaving to go to northern Mo. in a couple of weeks, one dealer says they can't find a problem the other says the injector pump is going down.
Drove the truck home no surging, drove 30 miles this morning no surging. I thought well the first dealer reset the failure code P1693, but the truck was still surging when I left that dealer and drove to the other. I sure don't want to get caught in the middle of a 14 hour trip and the pump lays down. Two days to get a pump from a dealer and at least 4 hour to install if I have the tools. Plus the cost of the pump will go up at least $350.00 if I don't buy from my local dealer (I have an inside track in the parts dept.) Any one have any suggestions?

Re:VP-44 Change out update
If you're going to MO, you might want to stop by one of the best Cummins mechanics there is, and get his advice. I have yet to hear a bad word about him. He's in St. James, MO. His name is Keith and he runs Forest City Diesel, 573-265-5595.
If you really think you need an injector pump you might just get the one you can get cheap and take it with you. If Keith thinks it needs one you might get him to install it for you (he can probably do it a little faster than you) while you are there. If not, you can return the pump, right?
He's on here and goes by Rammin On. He has an awseome 96 12v.

Chris
