Question Void Stickers???

Just out looking under my hood and I noticed two void stickers. One on the LP harness and one on the VP44 harness. Are these put on there at the factory or would a dealership put them on if the pumps if they were replaced. I bought my truck used and was wondering if i have the original LP and VP44.

also if I disconnect the harness breaking the void stickers would this void my warrenty on the LP and VP44?

I think those are the stickers put on by the dealer stating that your warranty on those two items is already void. My guess is that the previous owner used some sort of fueling box that was caught by the dealer and they voided the warranty on those two items.

To be sure, you could run the VIN number at a dealership service counter and see what comes up. If DC voided your warranty, it will probably also be "red flagged" in their computer.

BTW, if you bought the truck off a lot, and you were not told those items had their warranty voided, I personally think you have recourse against who sold you the truck.

I believe those were placed from the factory, and if disturbed, you would have to come up with some truely amazing explaination before your components would be covered.
They should be placed across the gap between the two parts of the plug.

This makes more sense to me than the other way around...

if they were placed on as an indication of a voided part, it would be just as easy to remove them making the part appear visibly fine... my $.02.

thanks for the info,
I was going to the dealership tomorrow to some answers(thinking they sold me the truck with parts that had their warrenty voided seeing the dealership sold me an extended warrenty 4 yrs or 80,000 km with the truck for an extra 3500 dollars). I think I'll still going there and ask them to run the VIN just to ease my mind.

BTW does anyone think I made a mistake getting the extended warrenty. It is bumper to bumper from DC not one of those warrenty companies. This is my first diesel, (Best truck i have ever had), but because of the transmission and VP-44 problems I read about i got the warrenty for some peace of mind.

Yes, they are there from the factory.
They need to be removed to hook up fueling boxes.

When I had my VP44 replaced, they forgot to put them back.
Hope they made note of that fact.

Some trucks had 'em, some didn't, even in the same model year.

I thought most fueling boxes hooked up in series at the ECM? Sorry for the bad info.

THAT'S what threw me. My truck and the ones at work don't have them. I made an assumption (you know what that does) as to what the void stickers meant. Thanks

Void stickers were described well above, some had em, some didn't. I think it was more of a "scare" tactic by DC to make the "bomb squad" think twice. On the service contract it's always a gamble. I work as a tech at a DC dealer and I service contract anything I own on the longest term I can as I tend to keep vehicles for a long time. Most of the time you won't use them to there full extent, but.....it only takes one major failure to pay for it. I just replaced my torque converter for the $50 deduct.

Void stickers=as useful as a bat in a football game!

They came from the factory, one on the ECM the other on the pump connection (van aaken box comes to mind).
One funny thing is that they usually find a way to fall off by themselves.

So, I'm thinkin someone must of come up with a way to copy these stickers? So, you can just remove the stock ones and install new ones.

I wonder who has done it?

Why bother?

Just take 'em off - completely.

My '01.5 bought new doesn't have any of them at all, so how does the dealer know if YOURS had any at all??

Dealerships and DC can check by VIN number and build date.

They are there to help the dealer void your warranty from possible fueling box being added.

One after market place did make the void stickers, check your site sponsors.

The void stickers are there to keep you from breaking the seal on the connection .They are supposed to be on there and could make things difficult if you need warranty work if there removed or damaged, I had my VP replaced and the dealer installed new ones. They come with the VP from Cummins. They will come off if you use the car wash or high pressure washers on them ,which is a bad idea anyways ,you could get water in the connection .
