I had a vibration so I changed out the rear u joints. The were pretty dry. I still have some vib that starts around 30-35 miles/hr. No vib when coasting. any suggestions? 2002 short bed 2500.

I had a vibration at 40-43 MPH and it ended up being my tires. Got rid of the mud terrains and went with a calmer tire and havnt felt it since. However it would be worth it to check all of your fluids (t case-trans-rear end)
Does it seem like its coming from the front or rear more?

Pinion bearings. They will howl during acceleration and be dead quiet on coast.

I can't press one of the end caps in all the way so I wasn't able to put the retainer in. My new Harbour Freight vice exploded with the pressure. What ya think?

You didn't mention the U-joint issue in the beginning. If you pushed on it that hard you will have to replace it again. The roller that dropped will have a flat on two sides. If you still have the old U-joint and one of the caps was good you can steal a roller out of that one. Not reccomended but I have gotten away with it when I dropped a cap and lost some of the rollers. Just keep in mind that the joint will probably not last as long as a new one though.

fixed

ok so I pulled the shaft back out and went to lowes for another vice(that one broke also). Pressed the end cap that would not go in and inserted the clip. Replaced the shaft and "evenly" snugged down the "C" clips at the rear dif. Guess what? No Vibration. Saved $200 over what PepBoys wanted to do the job.
Now to the front shaft.

Do yourself a favor and put some never seize one the holes in the yoke before pressing the caps in. It will make a world of difference inthe amount of force needed.

That's why I send to driveline shop in town. $50 and they replaced all the ujoints and even painted the driveshaft. I supplied the parts. Sounds like you have bent drive shaft or severely out of balance take it to drive line shop that is capable of balancing driveshafts
