vac line that is attached to one that goes thru rear hoist point

Hello,

I removed my IAT today for cleaning and inspection. What a PITA, it wasnt where I thought it would be and while feeling around for it I fount a vacuum hose that is taped to the one that goes thru the rear engine hoist point. I was hoping some one could tell me where that is connected to if anything. Mine has a little disk with a small nub w hole in it. I was wondering if this is normal.

If it is anything like my 2001, it is normal. My truck has a switch on top of the transfer case with 4 vacuum lines coming out of it. I believe red, black, green and grey. 2 of the lines come from this afforementioned switch and go to the front axle 4 wheel drive actuator (red and black). The 2 remaining vacuum lines come down the firewall, 1 of which is from the vacuum pump (I think this one was the grey one) and the other one (I believe the green one) is just up where you described and it has some sort of breather on the end of it and is attached to nothing. Hope this is of some help to you.

The iAT and MAP sensors aren't too bad if you roll up a towel and place it on the front bumper for your knees and just lay over the top of everything and use a deep socket and shorty ratchet.

Real PIA for me as I am a lefty!!

Just make sure that vac line isn't sucking air when running. you can get snubbers at NAPA if you have an open hose, the factory ones will rot off after ten years or so....

After all that I found both sensors looking like new. Guess I'll just deal with 16mpg.

16 around town is about average for me...

Winter blend fuel will lower it some more.
