There is another thread going about this. Many pros and cons. Some have been using for a million miles with supposedlly no isssues. JMO. The oil has sub micro partices in it and acid and no tellling what else. Older systems seeminglly could get by with 10% and even more oil mixed with fuel. The later and much more intolerant fuel systems are in question. Why would you put something no longer good for engine oil and run it through a 1200 dollar VP44 pump. The saving in fuel might no be worth the cost of pump or injectors. The filters will not take all foreign material out........ If you could adequatelly prefilter, that might be another matter.
Research indicates motor oil does not have as many btus of heat engery as good #2 diesel. This equals less MPG. Also oil has a reduced cetane number which means slower to ignite and burn. This equals less MPG. This is another of those unending debates.

Some folks will do it, some won't. I've been running used oil for about a year, no ill effects. 2-3 gallons per tank full, slightly less than 10%, I don't believe I'd use more than that. I do run a FASS system though. HTH

I have been recycleing my used motor oil for years, I find that the only ill effect is it shortens the life cycle of the fuel filter. The filter looks dirtier because of the carbon from the used oil. I use about 2 quarts per tank full.(I only burn dino oil not synthetic)

10 gallons per fill up with no ill effects, I believe I can't run enough miles through my truck before the long term effects start to hurt the engine. And the truck will probably be a big rust bucket somewhere!!!!

Anyone know if it's safe to run used "filtered" hydraulic oil? I have about 7 gallons that I took out of my tractor. It's Kubota oil that was used in a hydrostat tractor. I don't know if it's synthetic or not...but if it's not syn., can you burn it and what ratio?
