Uh Oh....Need some help guys (injectors i think)

Ok here is the story, 6 months ago i purchased a 2002 dodge Cummins (trading in my 96 12Vavle) and me loving power i got stage 2 injectors nozzles (for starters) 4 months ago and about 3 weeks ago i started to get a slight chatter from them and kinda looked the other direction for some reason and then i would notice a slight miss when i held same engine RPM (no load on motor) and when i got on it hard pulling onto the interstate i would notice it surging, and well yesterday i was cruzing along 6th gear about 1700RPM and it started popping and blowing white smoke, so i let off the throttle and slowed down and put it into 5th and held it around 1500 rpm then it started doing it again so i repeated what i did before (heavily traveled road tried not to cause a wreck on the slick roads so i tried to keep from stopping and getting stuck in the ditch or causing an accident) and same thing kept happening to the point where i pulled into some guys driveway and it idled just fine and called someone and they followed me home and the truck didnt miss a beat and today same thing except it died on me and didnt want to start for i could pull it off the road....what would be the problem? is an injector dropping or bad need help ASAP this is my daily driver

Check the simple stuff first.

Do you have a fuel pressure gauge? What is the pressure?

It may be a lift pump going, but honestly it sounds like an injection pump getting ready to go.

Also, did you have the injectors pop tested and reset?

Let's hope it's something simple.

Go out to your truck and pull the codes.

Turn the key to the 'ON' position then to 'OFF' 3 times leaving the key in the 'ON' position. This nees to be done quickly. Do not bump the starter or you'll have to start over. Sometimes, you'll need to try it a few times to get the trick down.

Write down everything you see in the odometer window until it shows the mileage again. In other words, it'll say PDONE twice.

Get those codes and it might give you a place to start. And as you probably have heard, get a way to monitor fuel pressure ASAP.

Well i think either the lift pump is out or the injection pump is out....i started it today and let it warm up for bout 15 mins, it started just fine and idled just fine started going down the road just fine for a few blocks and it just popped once and died, i tried to start it to move it off the road but it wouldn't even puff smoke out the exhaust like its not getting any fuel......so now im sitting here waiting for my boss to come pick me up to go and get the truck and take me to work (this sucks)

Yeah i replaced the fuel filter and that was Jam packed of Geld Diesel......but im running a 60/40 blend with fuel treatment ..... hmm weird but anyways drained the fuel bowl and cleaned it out and put new filter in and got the bowl to fill back up and opened up the bleeder valve on the injection pump and it drizzled out when i tried to start it. So i believe that the injection pump is done for and its a manufactured one at that to......

Yep, consistent with VP44 failure. Double check your fuel pressure. I ahve had a few trucks show this code and had it clear after fixing a dead pump. Now, how long they can go after that, I dunno. But it's worth a look.

I have a few more questions, First one is if i go with a "Hot Rod Injection Pump" from bosch adds 80-100 HP would i have to worry about my EGT's and burning up my turbo and if im going to replace my Injection pump would it be a wise idea to get a diffrent lift pump, even if the other one is fine ?
