uh oh

just put in the new vp/lift pump combo... the idle doesnt swing the least bit and i know the lift is running... it isnt 2 weeks old yet and at wot 4th or 5th gear it feels like the clutch is slipping again... it did this right b4 the vp went out the first time. is this a lack of fuel pressure? i dont have a f/p guage so i guess i need to get one on it... what do you guys think?

I don't understand the question ?
Are you having problem with the fuel pressure ? If so, how do you know since you have no gauge?
Or is the clutch slipping ?

The 2 together have nothing in common.

If you have a slipping clutch you should have bought a stronger one or put in a 6 speed transmission and clutch

Well are you sure the clutch is not slipping? 4th and 5th WOT puts alot of strain on things...especially with a 66. When you say it feels like the clutch is slipping; what is it doing? Does it do it in 3rd and second also or just the higher gears?

OK, man, these guys here are great, but you need to be:

A.) A whole lot clearer on what your problem is
B.) Willing to get under the hood and give them info. Fuel PSI is critical!
C.) Respect these guys, they know what they are talking about.
D.) Know that my 6 speed is better than yours (because it's working right now.) LOL -

This is a first...I have never heard anyone suggest that the NV4500 with all its inherent problems when hooked to these engines is somehow better than the NV5600?.

Yeah, usually stating the opposite of the obvious is usually a sign of jealousy!

Well ive actually seen a 6 speed loose a gear in a heavy pull.. I had a 93 chevy 6.5 turbo diesel that i had a nv4500 in it with 410 gears it would literally pull a house down. I rebuilt that transmission myself one time and the ticker is showing 436882.6. My buddy spooly as we call him took a 99 and put a 6 speed in it and he said that he regreted doing it... remember one thing boys... more parts more that will break. got the new lift pump on and goin last night... it cured every thing i also tested the pressure b4 i took it off and i was gettin like 4psi on a brand new junkass carter pump... i got an airtex this time i aint goin through that again
