u-joints

what is the proper way to check your u-joints and driveshaft, to see if they are still good.

I usually put my transmission in neutral, crawl underneath, and work the shaft (rotating) back and forth while watching the u-joints for unusual movement, also for "noise", clunking------ just make sure you can differ from slack in the pinion and movement (clunking) in the joint/joints, it's usually pretty obivious, just do it slowly and watch and "feel" closely.

From: North Carolina or Kentucky. Take your pick
With wheels off ground so can rotate through complete revolution may give better feel of joint condition.
