U-Joints

Just changed my U-joints lastr night in the rear driveshaft.... I thought the new ones seemed a little stiff?? The don't slip back and forth in the yoke easily on their own..... Takes a little bit to move them.

Is that normal?? Will they loosen up with a few miles on them??

From: south of Kansas City 40 miles
They should be able to pivot without a lot of resistance, but they shouldn't flop from side to side when you have them out in the open. They will loosen up a little with use, but not much until they're needing replaced again! After you get the shaft installed be sure to give the fittings a squirt of grease (you did install u-joints with grease fitting, didn't ya?).

Yes the new ones have zerks on them, the old ones (Spicer) did not have fittings. I'm assuming these are original??
I use Synthetic grease on the whole truck.

Not sure how to tell what is too stiff and what is not, I ran the truck on stands when I finished the job (I was in the process of replacing the transmission and transfer case as well) and everything seems ok. I've driven it for two days and also seems good........

So hopefully I will be ok
