Turbo spring?

I do not have any other trucks around here to use as a ref. I need to know if the spring hooked to my turbo is a stock item or what? Thanks
Terry

What's the spring hooked to on either end.

Looks like a homemade J-Hook/Turnbuckle setup for keeping the wastegate closed.

It is hooked to the arm on the other end of the rod for the waste gate. Should I get rid of it?

It is used to keep the wastegate closed longer to get more boost with stock turbo's. It is an aftermarket item.
yours should still have a hy-9 turbo. The stock boost limit is about 20 psi, and I bet you can get as high as 35-38 now.
I'd leave it alone. Many members have run that little turbo to 35 or so and they last a long time.

I finally found it. This is a Bully Dog spring loaded Jhook.
