Turbo Shaft Loose

??? ??? After checking my air cleaner I decided to check my turbo wheel and when I wiggled the turbo the shaft had some endplay, around a 1/16 in each direction. For something to spin so fast and have play does not seem correct to me. What do you guys know about this?

Re:Turbo Shaft Loose

If you do not find any marks where the wheel has rubbed on the housing it's ok.

You can also look on the holset website and download the repair manual for your turbo and se if it's within specs.

AlpineRAM

Re:Turbo Shaft Loose

Some side to side play is normal on all turbos. Front to back play is a different story.

Pull the wheel over and spin it with your hand, if it doesnt bind or touch you are okay.
