Turbo psi dropped???

Last year I used to get around 22psi boost towing with no mods.
Went out last week end with my trailer and could only get 15psi. 900egt
Since last year I added 4" exhaust front to back and a edge 60hp chip, and a bd tranny (auto) with lower torque converter.
I vise gripped the tube to the wastegate and went out with no trailer and got 20psi before I could say cheese.
Do the springs that hold the w/g closed get weaker ???
i checked the turbo for play in the shaft and seems good and tight.
What kind of boost should i look for with these mods??

What is your fuel pressure at idle and WOT? Could be a weak or dead lift pump. I dont know if wastegate problems are common on hx35 trucks, so I cant help there.

Fill out you sig. so we know what kind of truck you have. Ditto on the fuel pressure, You need fuel to make boost.

15 psi and 900*, both are low. it sounds like you may not be getting all the fuel that you should be. check all the connections on your ez. did it give you a noticeable increase?

the method for your turbo is the J-hook, not pinching the pressure line, will that cure your issue....I don't think so.

as for boost leaks, it is always a possibility, but you pyro reads are low, not typical of boost leaks. it sounds like you are underfueling...did it feel like it had full steam?

you should see if it has any codes

low boost

i think you need to ck for leaks in your intake system, including your heater grid gaskets

He has a 99 according to his profile. Stock boost should be about 19psi. With an ez and exhaust, and the adjustable boost elbow, he should be around 25-30psi. Since egt's are low, the problem must be fuel related. Could be a VP problem or a lift pump problem. Just like someone else said, get it scanned for codes and check fuel pressure.

i had this happen on my 97 once. i changed the fuel filter and everything was fine after that. it is a good place to start, simple and inexpensive, and if that does not help, then you can move on to other things.

Thanks for the replys.
I will check the fuel psi.
I have been thinking about buying a fuel psi gauge.
Codes ???? can you check them in the vechile or do you need to go to a dealer or garage??
Oil and filter were done 2 months ago and fuel filter with every change.
Fleetgaurd from cummins.
I checked the boots and found one small really small leak, tightened all just in case.
I changed the VP44 about a year ago, hopefully it's ok
What other kind of lift pumps are good to put on.
My pyro gauge sensor is after the turbo as well that might make a difference on the egt's.
Thanks
Grant.

air filter? even easier that the fuel filter, if the air cant get to the turbo, no amount of fuel will make boost.

air filter is new 2 weeks ago.
I hooked up a fuel gauge and ran the hose under the hood and taped the gauge to the window I get 15psi at idle and around 12 driving, could not get it under 10 no matter what I do.
I will be going away with the trailer in 2 weeks so I will see how ir goes then.

I am having the same problems. I tried the smarty and got lots of boost, I bought and edge ez and put in a pyro and now all I can get is 15 psi and 1100+ egts. I have boost tested the system but at about 8-10 psi My boos tester comes off the turbo even so no real big leaks found. not 5 psi of boost. I wonder if the waste gate is damaged? I really dont know how to tell, If I wired it shut what boost should I see and would that be a good way of finding the problem? PLEASE its been like 4 months since I have seen 20+ psi
