I have an 02 HO 6sp and it seems like my power has been inconsistent. I was checking things today and pulled the turbo intake boot off and noticed that the turbo blades are fairly hard to turn by hand. Shouldn't the blades spin freely?

 

was this after the engine and oil has been warmed up? any play in the shaft?

The truck was cold and no there is no play in the shaft. I talked to the dealer and he said that is normal. He said if the turbo was bad it would make a very loud wining noise. Guess I was just paranoid, it just feels really stiff. Thanks

Agree...Check it warm! I get 2-3 revs with a finger spin, and maybe 1/16" play to either side...1/8" total.

List your truck info under signature (user CP...Personal)...so we know what you have.

Good point...never actually counted! How about "at least 2-3 revs"
