Turbo experts, please spool up

Truck just threw a 1693 and a 0126, took it to the dealer, he says it's out of warranty by 1 month, just my luck Anyway, so I bring it home to install all of my gauges and do the holley Blue setup by the tank. I am removing the turbo as to not get chips in it from drilling for the Pyro sensor, and the turbo is very stiff, as if gummed up.. I checked it 6 months ago, and it spun freely. After mulling over it for a while, thinking I needed a new turbo anyway, I decided to disconnect the oil feed to the turbo and put some trans fluid in it to try to clean it. This morning the turbo spins pretty good, just by finger spinning, do you think it's ok? If its not OK, I was wondering if there was a better turbo that would bolt on, without laying out too much cash. I really don't know how this happened, I always cool down after a pull or getting off of the freeway, although I can't garauntee that my wife has. I did idle with the air on for 35 minutes yesterday, found out about that no no last night after reading the forum. Please advise

If your going to stay stock, I would leave the trubo stock also. Or might get a hx from a 5-6 speed. Look in the classafieds for a good used one. A lot of guys sale their stocker to help pay for their bigger one.

I don't intend to stay stock for long. What do you think of the current condition of my turbo?

you should be fine. You may want to pull it off and clean it with some carb cleaner and turn it by hand and see if that helps. your stock turbo is ok for a good bit more power, about as much as your stock auto trans.

My Turbo and intake are clean, no oil, and no obvious play in the shaft. Maybe the trans fluid cleaned out the coking in the bearings?

Do you allow any cool down time before shutting it off? It sounds like the turbo has coked up. How often do you change the oil?

If not staying stock...why mess with it!
But as stated above...your stock HY-35, will handle any hp your tranny will (+60-70 HP, IF it's still in good shape)!

Future plans??

Note: As you may have noticed...8 hrs on a summer Sunday is not best time to catch a lot of members on line...

Oil changes regularly at 4000 miles. I have cooled down the turbo, as far as I can remember, but can't gaurantee that the wife has Turbo spins freely now and I bought a cool down timer and switching to synthetic oil, so I think it should be OK, I hope Thanks for the inputs!

I finally started it today after leaving the batteries unhooked for 2 days. The turbo is working fine, but the check engine light and codes came back immediatly, before I even drove it. I have a Walbro pump and a big line kit on the way. My wife wants me to trade this truck in for the 07.5 with the 6.7 and 6 speed automatic, decisions, decisions!
