turbo ?

is there any way to test or check the turbo and see if it is putting out what it should? i have a 2000 4x4 with 3.55 gears and 285 tires. when pulling my trailer with a john deere gator on it, the truck seems to struggle getting up hills that aren't that big. do i maybe need to look at something else?
truck has automatic, 3.55 gears, 285/75r16 tires. truck is basically stock except for holley fuel pump and gauge, running 15psi at idle and 10-12 running down highway at 65, and down to 5 psi when floored. when going up a slight hill, it will seem to be working real hard to try and maintain speed. any help is appreciated.thanks

I would check for boost leaks by pressureizing the system with air.

also- was thinking of removing cat and installing a freeflow muffler to this truck, maybe help it breath a little better and help mpg. currently getting 14-16 on the highway running at 60-65 mph.

What gears do you have in the rear? I get 17 on the freeway at 80. Under 60 I pull right about 20.

Get rid of your stock airbox and get a more flowing exhaust system

truck has 3:55 gears and 285/75r16 tires. nothing crazy, just a regular all terrain style tire. i get 15 mpg usually, running 60-65 on the highway. truck has 185k on the odometer and is basically stock. exhaust is factory, added a holley blue fuel pump and a fuel pressure gauge. i was told not to put a k&n air filter on it as it tends to pull debris past the filter into the turbo. i use a stock type paper filter. the truck does not get hot rodded(that's what my firetruck is for) and i can't seem to do any better than 15 mpg's. truck feels like it runs fine, doesn't do anything weird or funny.
