Truck Wont Start

hey i have a 2001 dodge auto, and the truck didnt want to start today. i pulled the starter and changed the contacts as they were almost gone, but the truck still wont start. i dont hear anything when i turn the key forward but a little click from the fuse pannel. i check them all. if i use jumper cables from the battery down to the starter and put power to the little wire it starts... can anyone give me some help of what it could be? and i have no codes

Could be the starter relay in the PDC or it could be your neutral start switch on the transmission. Swap relay with another in PDC same type. If it still doesn't crank try grounding the center terminal only on the neutral start switch. That's on the transmission, the round switch with three wire connector to it. The other two wires are for backup lights. Don't ground those or you could blow the fuse.
