Truck Threw Codes Friday
Friday night, my truck had an "event" and threw some error codes. I used the key on/off trick to check the codes and this is what it showed:
P PCU
P0500
P1693
P END
P ECU
P1693
P0121
P END
When I got to Autozone and he read it with an OBD scanner, the only code he saw was the P0121 error which is the Throttle Position Sensor. We looked it up and he could not even order it. Is it a Dealer Only item or is there somewhere else you would recommend getting one?
The thing that worries me is the number of different sensors that reported errors. The P0500 is a Speed Sensor and the P1693 is some kind of turbo electronic malfunction. Could the Throttle Position Sensor cause the other sensors to error or could the problem actually be one of the other sensors?
Thanks for any and all help!!!

P 1693 is just a companion code. Nothing to worry about.
P0500 is your speed sensor on the rear end. Usually if your speedo does not work until about 10-15 mph then you need to replace it. I am not sure of any other problems related to the 0500 code. This is an easy fix. $40 and 30 minutes and it is done.

Just do a APPS reset and the code will go away... I've gotten that code before... No big deal...

Well dang it!
I did the APPS Reset on Sunday afternoon and my truck died and threw the code again on may way home from work Monday.
Looks like it is time for a new APPS sensor.

You may have to get the truck to another scanner.....like a DRB style. There could be another DTC stored in the ECM that triggered the 1693 companion code (it is not a "turbo electronic malfunction") in the first place. The odometer display and some scanners won't retrieve some DTC's stored in the ECM so it triggers the 1693 DTC to let you know that there is another DTC that was unretrievable.
