Truck stalls once a month code p0253,vp44 time?
My truck will stall usually about 1 minute after startup, it has done this for the last 2.5 months and never threw a code, it has done it a total of 4 times, I cleaned the connection at the vp, removed the Catcher, and my TST is grounded in the VP44 loom per TST instructions, the truck runs hard, and is getting great mileage with lil smoke, today when it died it took a few cranks to finally get it started and it threw the p0253 code along with a charging system low code, does this sound like a vp or should I check other things first, I dont wanna just dump a new vp if thats not the problem. Thanks for the help
P0253 - Fuel Injection Pump Fuel Valve Open Circuit
Without much intimate knowledge of the mechanical part of the VP, I can't say exactly what that DTC is referring to. Sounds like it could be fuel solenoid related? Perhaps an intermitent failure of the solenoid itself? If so, that unfortunately means the VP would have to be replaced.

Thanks CTD, im calling Piers right now
I have read a ton of post on this code and it seems that a few guys had it related to bad grounds and bad wire taps, however mine runs great, and has done it with 2 different combos of boxes and ecus, but the wiered thing is it only does it about a minute after start up, I guess im in denial about having a bad VP, but 114,000 on the original is not too bad
