truck running wierd /with codes

codes are 1693 and 1689 but my scanner does not tell me what the ymean

I was on my way home with my trailer and as I was accelerating, if I gave to much, the truck would act like it was choking up and almost cut out, the it would return to idle and the same thing happened over and over again...throwing on the check engine light. If I kept boost low, it didnt seem to have an issue.

also My tranny kept locking and unlocking...but if I turned the A/C off, it had no problems?? Any thoughts on how thats related. As soon as I kicked the a/c on it would start doing it again.

found that site...found out the code means

No Communication Between ECM & Injection Pump Module

what could cause this.

spoke to DTT they say they aremost likely non related and a noise filter will fix the tranny issue...any suggestions on the other problem?

You said the codes you read meant no communication between ECM and Injection Pump. Sounds like your VP44 is dying. Have you ever replaced it?

"No Communication Between ECM & Injection Pump Module"

I could be wrong but it seems like I have seen this definition before when the injection pump was bad. The injection pump is the VP44. I would guess that it will eventually give up the ghost totally. You didn't mention if you have a fuel pressure gauge and if so what the pressure is. If you don't have a fuel pressure gauge shame on you. Get yourself one right away.

The problem you are having with the tranny could be solved by the filter. I had to install one on my truck.

I have good fuel pressure...I have a gauge and it never goes below 10 psi

I really get no problems out of the truck unles I try to give it a good amount of pedal then It feels like it stalls out. If you were to just drive it around normally though...no issues? I hate to throw a pump on it for trial and error purposes

If I were you, I'd check my connections with the Edge EZ. I'd pull them apart and add some dielectric grease and reconnect them. Can you clear the codes and do the connections? Your EZ may have problems. You could also remove the EZ and clear the codes, see if they come back.

Good Luck,

Casey

I had the no communication code repeatedly until I cleaned the connectors on the injection pump. I haven't had it in the 3 months since they were cleaned.

Duh, should have read your signature. I looked in the reviews but they don't show up.

How is your boost looking? I still think your pump is going but you should remove your Edge and see how it runs. I had one go bad on me and the results were similar but I wasn't throwing codes.

Do what Casey is recommending and reset the codes. Leave the edge disconnected and see if your symptoms are the same or if the engine is still throwing codes. This will tell you if the Edge is bad.

This sounds like it should be step number one!

boost is good...no issues there. I am going to try and clean the connections, if that doesnt fix it then I will pull the EZ and see if that does anything.

chasd60 were you getting any running problems when you got the code?
