Trouble starting sometimes
Trouble starting sometimes
Here in the past 2 months, my truck has been having problems starting. The batteries are good so i can rule that out. I have a 5 spd. When i turn the key to the ON position, i can hear the LP run and everything, but sometimes when i turn to start it, it will just click (like the batteries were dead) and sometimes it will act like it will try to start and then stop. I turn the key off, let off the clutch, then try again. I can do this 2 to 3 times sometimes then it will finally start up. It doesnt do this all the time, maybe once every 4 or 5 times i try to start it.
Any ideas on what to even look at???

Starter contacts are the first thing that pop'd into my head. Try a search for starter contacts and I'll bet you'll find your problem. I believe you can get a rebuild kit for $35 or so.
Good luck.
Good luck.
Agree with suggestions above but you might also check your positive cable terminals. At times I can got only a click, I know it's a bad cable terminal (over tightened it
) and now it's stretched but just haven't fixed it properly yet. I did insert a small screw between the terminal bolt and the battery post and that solved the problem I caused.

well, i cleaned the battery terminals really good this evening and it started right up. but it just kind of does it when it wants to. hopefully this could have fixed it. thanks for the suggestions though! at first i thought it could have been my clutch sensor
