Trip from Hell!!

Greetings all,
Just returned form a trip to Chincoteague VA, then to the Outer Banks of NC, then on to Williamsburg VA, then home (swedesboro NJ).
The truck pulled great with the trailer in tow, the only thing is I think the LP is going. I would get 11 psi at idle, then 6 at cruising. When under load on a hill, I could easily drop the pressure to 0 if not careful.
Does anyone know if there is a correlation between pressure and flow?? I know that the dealership will do a flow test prior to replacing the LP under warranty, but I don't want them to do the test and have it pass the flow test when I know that it is going bad.
Anyway, the vacation was stiffled right off the bat; the second day out in Chincoteague, the campers next to us let their Pitbull run around with out a leash and attacked our 12 year old Australian shepard. When we finally got them apart, my dog had her arm ripped open. I guess that we are lucky the dog didn't get her around the throat.
Anyway, four trips to the vet and $300 later, we are home safe and sound.
I have a Holley Blue fuel pump and install kit from Ryan to install, but if the LP will be covered under warranty, then why not let them put in a new one and save my Holley LP for later?
Good to be home,
Chris

Hey Chris, sorry to hear about your dog. I've got two black labs who are like our kids. But anyway that guy you were next to should be footing the vet bill, or the police should be involved I think.... I can't stand stupid people like that.
Well I like your idea. See if you can get the LP replaced under warranty, and hold onto the Holley for a later time.
Good luck !

my 2002 runs about 13 -13 1/2 at idle and about 11 to 12 at cruise speeds. on a steep grade wide open it drops to aprox.7 psi. it passes the volume test. i dont think yours will unless your gauge is wacko.

Thanks nitrous. I am still thinking about going to the dealership. I wonder if I should pull the edge ez off the truck first? I have heard conflicting stories about whether they care about the edge's. I have also heard stories of the replacement pumps from the dealership going south shortly after replacement also. I might be better off just going with the holley on the frame and being done with it all.

Moose,
I feel the same way about those kind of people. We don't have kids, and our dog has been it since she was a pup. I tell ya, we were so glad to just get away from there the next day. They did appologize, and said that we could save some money by (get this): tape the dog's mouth shut and sew her arm up ourselves with some dental floss and a needle. Voila! Wow, if I had known it was that easy and didn't require antibiotics and preping the wound, I could have saved some money!!! (and probably lost my dog too....).
Some people just don't get it. If I had brought my firearm on this trip, I would have been tempted.......

USCGtraveler- Feel bad about your dog, hope he's OK.

Our Lab was attacked a couple of years ago in a NFS campground by a running loose Pitbull. I got chewed up pretty good pulling the Pit off my dog, and felt justified at that point to pump 3 rounds of .357 into the Pit, killing him. The Ranger agreed when he finally showed up 3 hours later.
The Pit owners made a bunch of noise about their dead doggie when THEY finally showed up about 4 hours later. Told them I'd see them in Court, and I'll end up owning every piece of trash they had, and they'd be working to pay ME for a lot of years ahead. At that point, they changed their tune.

Your probably right McMopar.
I think I will just install the Holley blue kit and move on. I have to run some of the fuel out of the tank before trying to tap into the line.

RoadRanger, it sounds like your encounter was a bit more exciting than ours!! I can bet that your blood pressure was peaking around then, huh?
I know that mine was. I don't blame you a bit for blowing that dog away. I can't understand why people will get such a dog and train it to be mean. I think that it is instinctual for those dogs to be that way.
Anyway, I will be super-careful about letting my dog get near any dog that I don't know their dispositon.
It totally put the brakes on anything that we had planned after that. My dog was seriously looking forward to going to the beach, too!

No one loves animals more then I do. Two horses, four dogs and four cats.
But..........IMHO, Pit Bulls should become extinct!

A few years ago, one of my nighbors pit bull mix made an aggressive charge when my daughter and grand daughter got out of my truck. Bad move on his part! My three legged Akita/Lab mix nailed him! Woody had it by the neck and had it almost killed when I finally used a lead rope to get him off. Until this day, that dog still gives Woody a wide berth.
