Trashed the rear drum of my 47RE

Well I managed to produce some nice groves in the rear drum of my transmission. The fun part is that the groves are where the band is worn.
Where the band is actually pulled by the lever the band and the drum look good.

I would really like to know how that happened.
And how to get parts ...

Thanks

Markus

Is that the drum material welded to the band?

I can't say I have ever seen that before, not that I am a trans guru, but wow.

The band has lost or worn off all the friction material on the 2 strips on the sides. It even has worn a little into the metal of the band.
The center strip of the band still has quite a bit of material left.

I do not assume an installation error since this worked nicely for more than 130 k miles..

Ok, I see now, looks like the 2 outer bands started crumbling and wore grooves?

Why they would and not the center though, I have no earthly clue......

The fun part is that the outer bands also wore off a good bit of the backing metal.
So they need to have been applied with considerable force while the center one did not wear?
