Transmission temp sensor install?

I have the "big three" on my a-pillar. Going to put a trans temp gauge on the steering column this winter. Question is, what options are there for the sending unit? I bought my other gauges from DieselManor.com and will likely get my trans temp gauge there. They have a manifold that can be installed in line for the sender (comes with two compression fittings). It seems like the easiest way to go but having not done one, what am I looking at? If there another place on hte trans for hte sender?

Probably the best place for a "TRUE" reading, I bought the chrysler line with the fitting installed already.

Which line? The one Mcmopar talks about? Is there a P/N for it?

I would get the line, also. I used to run compression fittings, but with all the vibration under there they eventually developed a very minor seeping, nothing major but it was annoying.

I know the cooler line is the best, I think, but what about using the dipstick sensor at the valve body? If you measure the fluid exiting the tranny its has no more use until it comes back to the pan.The fluid in the pan is sucked up into the tranny and lubricating the tranny, so that measurment would also be important.

Its either measuring the tranny fluid exiting or entering??

Just curious and trying to learn more about tranny cooling.

If you put it in the line, it measures the hot temp from the TC, out to the cooler. I have the line.

Very easy to put in. The hard part will be at the exchanger. Take the hard line off of the exchanger, and take out the check ball. It is supposed to allow better flow.
