I have a 1999 24V five speed and need to know what kind of oil goes in the transmission? The gear box turned over on me and off the jack as I was putting to box back in and I lost almost all of my oil before I noticed it pouring out. For the man who thought I had a clutch problem, you were right, the pilot bearing wore out and the clutch plate was broken and springs flew everywhere when I unbolted the pressure plate. Sonny, you need a heavier oil in the NV4500.

Castrol Syntorque 75w-90 is the spec fluid, but consider some Redline MT-90 (*NOT* the MTL) as well.

Stick with these two. The Castol is the safest, best all around bet.

You'll find a bunch of people like the synths. I like Amsoil 75-90.

 

It should say what type of fluid to put in, on the tag on the tranny Fill Plug Or Owners Manual.
If it's a NV4500 it came with synthetic from the factory.

Be sure you use the right Amsoil lube for that tranny...there's only one!
