My transfer case shifter is stuck in 4 Hi. Before I just took it to a tranny shop it had two positions now it has one. 1st position was 4 hi with no 4wd light and no front axle engaged in and the other was 4 hi with light on and front axle engaged. I can hear the case engaged in either position. Since they tried to shift it from under the truck (which it would not) the front axle is engaged and the light stays on. Any ideas on how to get in 2 hi again? They talked about the "fork" having issues. I have a very long trip starting on Sunday and would love to get it in 2WD again. They disconnected the vacuum lines to disengage the front axle but a few minutes after leaving them I noticed the axle is still engaged. They are gone for the weekend. Help!

 

Pull the front shaft if nothing else.
The shift shaft is probablly rusted and froze in position.
