Transfer case oil check bolt stuck

I wanted to check the level of the oil in the transfer case and the allen head bolt is REALLY stuck. I have put penetrating fluid on it and its been sitting for about 2 weeks and still no go. Any suggestions??? Would heating up the case around the bolt help?

I was thinking of that, but the case looks to be white metal and I don't want to wreck it...

If you have a small hand held torch just put some mild heat on it then remove heat and spray with penatrating lube, might have to do a couple of times but it worked for me. Make sure you coat it with anti-seize before you put it back in.

I found a little Teflon tape on the threads does the job of preventing leaks and it doesn't need to be tightened as much. With the case being aluminum and the plug steel I didn't like the idea of having to tighten really tight so it wouldn't leak and have the risk of cracking the case.

Make you are using a 3/8 hex socket in good shape and a long handle rachet. You might have to put some muscle behind it, but it will come out. I do a lot of jeeps and never rounded one out yet.
