Transfer Case - Needed or Not?
I just posted a question earlier about noises in the front end of the truck pertaining to the 4 wheel drive. Looking at the back side of the transfer case, the sides are blown out from the position of 6 to 12. I can see a chain and its exposed also from 6 to 12. Is there any way to bypass this instead of spending thousands for repairs? I dont need 4 wheel drive.
Thanks.
Thanks.
All you have to do is order a new output shaft, a new tail housing and a longer driveshaft. I've made the transition from 2wd to 4wd but never 4wd to 2wd, it is definitly possible though. What transmission do you have?
I think I have a 5.9 L
Its a 24 valve
5 speed 3/4 ton
I have now located a rebuilt pump online for 845 + 250 core with 1 year unlimited miles. So..... If anyone can help locate one cheaper..Thank you!
Just curious on how much that cost ya i have been thinkin of doing this but not sure which is the right way to start out or even where to start? You can pm me if you would rather, just be little easier.
Well, thats a hard question, i have buddies that build offroad trucks and the guys that run standard shift transmissions run the nv4500 and they always have parts laying around so i think it would probably cost two cases of beer for me, lol. But seriously, you could probably do it for less than $1000 even with the longer drive shaft. Don't quote me to that because i have never had to buy any of it before. The link i posted above should be able to put a price tag on it though.
